Sri Lankan shares fall with world markets; cenbank holds rates

The benchmark stock index dropped 2.7% to 7,002.04, its lowest since Jan. 6. With Thursday's fourth straight of losses, the index is now well below a record high of 9,025 hit in late January, and is just up around 3% for the year.
The MSCI's ex-Japan Asian-Pacific shares lost 1.8% and other stock markets dipped after 10-year US Treasury yield, the benchmark for global borrowing costs, rose past 1.45% on Wednesday.

Sri Lankan shares fall as industrials, financials slide

The benchmark stock index ended down 1.27% at 7,343.38. The index is off 18.6% from its lifetime high hit on January 29, 2021.
Cable manufacturer ACL Cables slumped 6.2%, according to exchange data, while LOLC Holdings slid nearly 3%.

Sri Lankan shares extend gains as financials, industrials rise

Conglomerate Expolanka holdings jumped 15.1% as the top boost on the index, while Browns Investments gained 7.4%.
Tess Agro added 40% to end the day as the top percentage gainer on the index.

Sri Lankan shares close at over 1-mth low as financials, industrials decline

The benchmark stock index slumped 4.13% to end at 7,580.91, its lowest closing level since Jan. 13.
Shares of Conglomerate Hayleys plunged 90.3% to be the biggest drag on the index, followed by an 18.3% fall in shares of Lanka Orix Leasing Company.

Sri Lankan shares recover sharply to end 5pc higher

The benchmark stock index ended up 5.1% at 7,985. Still, it shed 3.5% for the week, but is up 17.9% so far this year.
Trading volume on the CSE All Share Index fell to 184.8 million from 198 million in the previous session.

Ceylon Tobacco Company Plc and Nestle Lanka Plc were the biggest boosts to the index, ending up 2.8% and 4.1%, respectively.
