LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Agriculture Malik Ahmed Ali has said due to introducing more than 80 new varieties of wheat in Punjab during the last four years, a record production of wheat is expected this year.
He disclosed this while talking to mediamen on Friday. He said a target of cultivating wheat on 16.8 million acres had been fixed during the current season due to which 19.2 million Ton wheat production was expected.
He said the Punjab government was making strenuous efforts to ensure availability of fertilizers during the wheat season.
Moreover, a campaign for cultivation of wheat has been launched from October 15 to till November 15, as early cultivation wheat helped better yield, he added.
