imageBANNU: Central leader of PML-N Marvi Memon Saturday staged a sit-in in front of Bannu Jail, demanding release of the detained internally displaced persons (IDPs), who were arrested after clashes with the police during aid distribution on Thursday.

The internally displaced tribesmen from North Waziristan Agency and MNA Nazir Khan were also present in the sit-in.

Marvi Memon strongly condemned the use of force against IDPs and demanded the provincial government to release the detained IDPs.

She said the sit-in would continue till release of the IDPs.

A local court had sent over 90 IDPs to jail on judicial remand. Meanwhile, IGP Nasir Durrani directed the Bannu police to withdraw cases against the arrested IDPs.
