LAHORE: Power shortfall came down to 3,000MW Monday with drop in demand but still the industrial sector was exposed to six hours a day loadshedding.

According to the Energy Management Cell (EMC), demand for electricity remained 1,5813MW against generation of 1,2946MW, leaving the system with a total shortfall of 2,967MW.

This drop in demand was mainly because of switching off the air-conditioners by the domestic consumers, a reason which is enough to perturb the industrial consumers at large. They are of the view that why the government was not exempting industry from loadshedding when the demand on the domestic side has reduced sharply.

According to these circles, the gas supply has also been compromised by the SNGPL and it is likely to be compromised further with the start of winter. It is worth noting that the major part of Punjab witnessed heavy rains on Monday that has given birth to the start of winter season.
