smeda-logo-small 400KARACHI: The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) officials held a meeting with investors and discussed fast track promotion in Sindh of agro based post harvest industries for grains,  pulses, spices, fruits, vegetables, flowers and also poultry, sheep breeding, dairy farming, fish farming and off season green house farming for  the SMEs.

 

Zulfikar Thaver member board of directors SMEDA convened the meeting to highlight the various profitable ventures for SMEs in the province of Sindh. Muslim Raza provincial chief, Mukesh Kumar, Zeeshan, Uzair Ali, Feroze Ahmed and other officials assisted the member board.

 

Thaver said there is ample scope for new entrants and SMEDA is at their disposal to assist them in setting up units in the province. The feasibility is also available on SMEDA website. The specific business plan would also be prepared on the request of the entrepreneur according to particular requirements of the applicant.

 

Muslim Raza extended full support to Ghulam Ali Fadoo agriculturist, Naseem Zaidi, Mushtaq Ali Khawaja and other investors and suggested poultry farming, green house farming, cold storage, organic farming, dehydration plants for fruits and vegetables and fish farming to the prospective investors and offered to arrange visits to units to provide first hand information to the new entrants. He also suggested investment in flower exports and said it is a profitable business for SMEs.

 

Shakil Affendi of Glacier Ignis Temp Co. consultants to the Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) said small dairy farms can be set up with capacity to make cheese, yoghurt and ice creams.

 

He also stated that there is scope for dates, tomatoes paste, rice husking, polishing, oil extraction and seed processing and offered help and assistance to intending entrepreneurs wishing to set up units in Sindh.
