ecp voter 400ISLAMABAD: Additional Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan Muhammad Afzal said that ECP under an order has approved voters' education strategy for voters' mobilization.

 

Talking to a private news channel, he said that under the said strategy, Voters' Awareness campaign is being launched at district level for the mobilization of segments of society especially women and modernized groups, who had no wholesome participation in election process.

 

He said the ECP has also approved a suggestion that Oct 17 should be celebrated as National Voters Day.

 

Moreover, ECP has also suggested that at least 10 percent votes of women should be polled in every district and the proposal has been sent to Ministry of Law for legislation, he added.

 

He said it is worth mentioning that voters' participation ratio is 44 percent in Pakistan and we want to double it through voters' awareness campaign.

 

The proposal to make casting of vote compulsory is also under consideration, he said.
