The Karachi Port handled 67,508 tonnes of cargo comprising 48,055 tonnes of import cargo and 19,453 tonnes of export cargo including 3,082 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 48,055 tonnes comprised of 26,186 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,570 tonnes of general cargo; 7,478 tonnes of bulk cargo and 7,821 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 19,453 tonnes comprised of 16,193 tonnes of containerised cargo; 60 tonnes of bulk cargo and 3,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 3,082 containers comprising of 1,612 containers of import and 1,470 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 538 of 20's and 524 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 13 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 207 of 20's and 498 of 40's loaded containers while 89 of 20's and 89 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Hyundai Colombo, Ever Deluxe, MT Quetta, Oriental Freesia and Orion carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 82,368 tonnes comprising of 72,431 tonnes of import cargo and 9,937 tonnes of export cargo including 1,175 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 72,431 tonnes includes 37,587 tonnes of coal; 13,000 tonnes of palm oil; 4,500 tonnes of soyabean; 3,856 tonnes of general cargo; 1,100 tonnes of LPG and 12,388 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 9,937 tonnes includes 9,937 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,175 containers comprising of 652 containers import and 523 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were three ships namely APL Gwang Yang, Safmarine Ngami and Aramis carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely Star Topaz and Kazak carrying soyabean and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, rice, coal, soyabean, LPG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fifteen vessels viz. MSC Busan, Tisntao Express, River Globe, Great Comfort, Glory Navigator, Seneca, Panorea, Mermaid Star, Gas Arma, Celia, Gas Amazon, Epic Manhattan, Tomson Gas, Al-Khattiya and Hoegh Gallant carrying containers, steel coil, coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG and LNG respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. MSC Busan, MSC Sabrina, River Globe, Glory Navigator, Gas Arma and Al-Khattiya carrying containers, steel coil, soyabean, LPG and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Monday.

There is one ship namely MSC Sabrina carrying containers due to arrive on Monday while another ship namely Mearsk Kensington carrying containers is due to arrive on Tuesday.
