Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and Sindh Governor Imran Ismail on Wednesday held a telephonic conversion to discuss the appointment of new Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, media reports said. It emerges after Sindh police chief Dr Kaleem Imam called on Prime Minister Imran Khan at his office.

Sources said, after the discussion with prime minister, Sindh governor telephoned Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to discuss over the names of new IG Sindh but the CM refused to present more names for the slot.

Talking to media persons, Sindh Minister for Information Saeed Ghani said that Sindh government would not consult with Governor Sindh on the issue of the replacement of IGP, Sindh.

Provincial Minister for Information said it was illegal to consult with Governor Sindh regarding the appointment of IG Sindh, because the Governor had nothing to do with this appointment. He said Sindh government had already given five names to the federal government for the appointment of IGP, Sindh, adding that, no other name would be added to the list.

Saeed Ghani said the Prime Minister had also been contacted constantly over the issue of replacement of IGP, Sindh, and he too had consented for the same as well. The provincial Minister for Information said he felt that the current federal cabinet wanted his own prime minister to face embracement over the issue of IGP, Sindh. He said when the PM had shown his consent about an issue then no federal minister had the right to disagree over it.

Saeed Ghani clarified that there was no difference to opinion or deadlock between the Sindh government and the federal government regarding the replacement of IG Sindh before the federal cabinet meeting held on December 28. The situation changed drastically after this meeting of the federal cabinet, provincial Minister of Information added. He said he would once again request that let not make the people of Sindh and elected representatives of the province realize that they were second class countrymen.
