Last year on December 17, a special court handed the former military death penalty in the high treason case. In its detailed verdict, a three-member bench of the special court, headed by Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth ordered that if found dead, the convict's corpse be dragged to D-Chowk Islamabad and be hanged for three days.

Former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf submitted on Thursday an appeal in the Supreme Court (SC) against a special court's verdict in handing him death sentence under Article 6 of the Constitution in the treason case.
The petition was filed by Musharraf’s lawyer Salman Safdar. In his petition, the former president said that the special court did not give him the opportunity to record his statement in the case. He further said that the prosecution in the special court was ‘selective’.
The former military ruler also requested the SC to declare the death sentence awarded to him null and void, local media reported.
Musharraf had filed an appeal in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on December 27 against his death sentence. This week, the LHC announced that Musharraf's trial in high treason case and formation of special court was illegal and unconstitutional.
The high court observed that a proper course of law was not followed while carrying out legal proceedings against the former president. The court in its verdict said that the Article 6 could not be enforced from past.
