A Pakistan Army soldier was martyred on Saturday after Indian forces  resorted to unprovoked firing in the Hajipir sector of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to a press release by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday, the soldier was identified as Havaldar Nasir Hussain, a resident from Narowal in Punjab, local media reported. The soldier had been serving the Pakistan Army for 16 years, ISPR said.

Earlier this week, Sepoy Ghulam Rasool, a resident of Bahawalnagar also embraced martyrdom due to unprovoked fire in Hajipir Sector by Indian troops. Foreign Office Spokesperson Mohammad Faisal had summoned India’s deputy high commissioner in Islamabad Gaurav Ahluwalia to lodge a protest against Indian army's unprovoked ceasefire violations.

Ceasefire violations have surged since August 5 when India revoked the special status of occupied Kashmir, escalating tensions between the two neighbors.
