‘Betrayal of trust’: IoK ex-CMs warn scraping Article 370 will have dangerous results

Former chief ministers of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK), Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, have warned that the decision to revoke Article 370 will have 'dangerous' and 'catastrophic' consequences.

The two former CMs, who have been placed under house arrest, condemned the Indian government's decision to revoke Article 370. In a statement issued after the government moved a proposal to scrape Article 370 in the parliament, Abdullah said that this decision by the Government of India (GOI) will have 'dangerous consequences'.

Abdullah also vowed to challenge the 'illegal' and 'unconstitutional' decision of the GOI. "A long and tough battle lies ahead. We are ready for that," he added.

Mufti also took to her twitter handle and wrote that it was the darkest day and the people who had put their trust in in the Indian Parliament have been deceived. She further said that scraping Article 370 is illegal and unconstitutional, which 'will make India an occupational force in Jammu and Kashmir'.

"Government if India's intentions were clear. They want the territory of Jammu and Kashmir by terrorising the people. India has failed Kashmir in keeping its promises," she added. Mufti further said that India's decision will have 'catastrophic consequences for the subcontinent'.

The former CM also said India's intention is 'clear and sinister' in them wanting to change demography of the only Muslim majority state in India. She added that India wants to 'disempower Muslims to the extent where they become second class citizens in their own state'.
