On June 28, the National Assembly had approved the Budget 2019-20 and had defeated the opposition's bid to block the passage of the Finance Bill 2019-20. 176 members of treasury benches favoured the motion while 146 members of the opposition opposed it.
The budget was presented by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government on June 11 with a total outlay of Rs7.02 trillion. The budget focuses on fiscal consolidation, revenue mobilization, austerity measures and protection to the vulnerable segments of society.
