PM Imran Khan says he is not worthy of Nobel Peace Prize

After a resolution was submitted in the National Assembly demanding that a Nobel Peace Prize be awarded to Prime Minister Imran Khan for his efforts to deescalate tensions between Pakistan and India, the premier has said that he is not worthy of the title.

The premier took to his Twitter handle on Monday and wrote that he was not worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize. PM Khan said that only that person is worthy of the title who solves the Kashmir dispute.

The premier wrote,"The person worthy of this would be the one who solves the Kashmir dispute according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people and paves the way for peace & human development in the subcontinent."

On March 2, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had submitted a motion demanding that the premier be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for his role in wisely handling the heightened tension between Pakistan and India after the Pulwama attack.

PM Khan had announced his decision to release the Indian pilot who was arrested by the Pakistan Army following the Pakistan Air Force shooting down two of Indian Air Force jets. After the premier's announcement, supporters and fans of his started demanding that the title may be given to him and the hashtag #NobelPeacePrizeForImranKhan” started trending in the country on social media.
