India releases Pakistani who crossed border to meet Shah Rukh Khan

India has released Pakistani national Abdullah Khan, who crossed Indian border in 2017 in an attempt to meet Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

The 21-year-old Abdullah had jumped into India across the Zero Line between both countries on May 25, 2017 after the Beating Retreat ceremony in a desperate bid to meet his favourite star. He was immediately nabbed by Border Security Force (BSF) troopers and was booked under the Foreigners Act.

Abdullah was sentenced to imprisonment for six months by a local Indian court and was sent to the Amritsar Central Jail, Khaleej Times reported. Abdullah hoped to return someday with valid travel documents to meet SRK, as his dream to meet his favorite star has still not fulfilled.

Along with Abdullah, Indian government has also released Mohammad Imran Qureshi Warsi, another Pakistani national who is a resident of Karachi. He was sent back after spending 14 years in India, including 10 years in prison. He was put behind bars on charges of forgery and spying after overstaying in India.
