Few months ago rumors were rife about Facebook Messenger testing an ‘unsend’ feature, similar to WhatsApp. Now, the feature might be coming soon with the ability to retract a message within 10 minutes after sending.

As per a report by a social media expert Matt Navarra, Facebook’s messaging app Messenger will soon allow users to delete the sent messages within 10 minutes after being sent. The feature was spotted to be ‘coming soon’ in version 191.0 for iOS, with no information when it will be available for Android app of Messenger, reported Telegraph.

After WhatsApp, Facebook to add ‘unsend’ messages feature

The message notifying about the update read, “Coming soon: Remove a message from a chat thread after it’s been sent. If you accidentally send the wrong photo, incorrect information or message the wrong thread, you can easily correct it by removing the message within ten minutes of sending it.”

Though the feature does not have the same time limit as given to WhatsApp by its parent company, it is still better than having nothing. The feature was in rumors since April with even Facebook admitting to quietly delete messages sent by its CEO Mark Zuckerberg in order to test the feature.

Moreover, Facebook-owned social media site Instagram too began allowing users to unsend messages via its Instagram Direct with no time limit. Also, Google’s emailing platform Gmail too contains an ‘Undo Send’ feature that lets users retract any email within 30 seconds, wrote Daily Mail.
