An extremely rare two-headed venomous snake has been found in United States of America's northern Virginia.

Officials of Virginia Wildlife Management and Control shared the images and videos of a rare two-headed venomous baby copperhead snake that was spotted in a resident’s backyard.

The snake was captured and is currently being monitored by a state herpetologist after examination at the Wildlife Center of Virginia located in the city Waynesboro. “It appears as though the left head is more dominant – it’s generally more active and responsive to stimulus,” a veterinary hospital representative told WTVR.

The spokesperson said that according to the radiographs of the rare creature, it has two tracheas (left one more developed), two esophaguses (right one more developed), and the two heads ‘share one heart and one set of lungs’, reported Daily Mail.

“Based on the anatomy, it would be better for the right head to eat, but it may be a challenge since the left head appears more dominant,” he added.

Virginia Wildlife Management and Control owner Rich Perry said that ever since the pictures went viral on social media, he has been receiving calls and messages from around the country from people looking forward to buy the animal. However, she says that for now the snake will remain with the state herpetologist.

As per New York Post, the spokesperson said that wild two-headed snakes are extremely rare and they just don’t live that long because each brain often wants to do ‘two different things’. If survived, the reptile would soon become an exhibit at a zoological facility.
