Kashmir Solidarity Day observed in Faisalabad

Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed in Faisalabad on Friday to express solidarity with the people of held Kashmir in their struggle towards achieving freedom from Indian occupation. The day started with special prayers for the success of Kashmiri brethren and Quran Khawanis were also held at different mosques for the martyrs of Kashmir. Various programmes were held under the supervision of the City District Government to highlight the Kashmir issue.
Speech and declamation contests were held at different schools. A seminar on the subject of 'Kashmir is integral part of Pakistan' was held at Government Post Graduate College Samnabad, in which MPA Mian Tahir Jamil was the chief guest, while Principal Professor Dr Ejaz Farooq Akram presided over the seminar. Students delivered speeches on Kashmir issue and highlighted the violation of human rights in held Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, MPA Tahir Jamil said that the present government had raised the Kashmir issue on every national and international forum for its solution according to the resolution passed by the United Nations. He said that the right of self determination should be given to the people of occupied Kashmir to decide their fate on their own will. He urged upon India to follow the UN resolution for a peaceful solution of Kashmir issue.
Dr Akram said that Kashmir was the unfinished agenda of partition plan under which Pakistan and India emerged as independent states in 1947. He said that independence was the right of Kashmiri people and the hearts of Pakistani people beat with the Kashmiri brethren. Moreover, Faisalabad Arts Council arranged a photo exhibition at Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Auditorium Art Gallery, in which photographs depicting the aggression and excesses of Indian army were displayed for awareness of young generation. A stage drama 'Kashmir Ke Betay' was also played at a theatre under the arrangement of Faisalabad Arts Council.
Sports Department of the City District Government arranged a friendly women hockey match to show solidarity with the Kashmiris. DCO Noorul Amin Mengal was the chief guest on this occasion. Meanwhile, various social, religious, political and trader organisations also arranged a number of programmes to highlight the plight of the people of occupied Kashmir. Kashmir solidarity day was also observed at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad. In this regard, seminar and speeches were arranged at the New Senate Hall.
UAF Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said the Kashmir Solidarity Day reiterated our firm support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their inalienable right to self-determination. UAF Dean Professor Dr Abdus Salam called for finding a solution to the longstanding Kashmir dispute in light of the UN resolutions.
