Lahore Police, during last month of January, arrested 189 accused of 87 gangs involved in heinous crimes, 297 Proclaim Offenders and 1,103 Criminal Accused and traced 203 cases against them. According to details, DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf directed police officers for the implementation of National Action Plan to curb the crime in the city and arrest the criminals involved in different unlawful activities.
On these directions, all divisional SPs increased their efforts against criminals and showed excellent results. During the January, 417 cases were registered against 427 accused on having illicit weapon and arrested 1,204 culprits on the violation of law. Police also recovered 46-rifles, 43-guns, 529-revolvers & pistols and 30,014 bullets from their possession. During the action against drug dealers, 615 cases were registered and 620 culprits were arrested and 34kg heroine, 150kg chars, 150gm opium and 6,765 bottles of liquor recovered from them. Moreover, 108 cases were registered against gamblers and 424 accused arrested and also recovered betting amount more than rupees 0.3 million.
