Kalabagh 4 emerged as champion of Bank of Punjab Lahore Open Polo Cup 2015 in final match played with Al-Khan/MMS at Lahore Polo Club on Sunday.
Raja Samiuallah was hero of the final as he slammed superb six goals to steer Kalabagh 4 to title triumph while Bilal Haye also in sublime form and contributed fantastic four goals in his team's victory. For Al-Khan/MMS, although Hamza Mawaz Khan also played superb polo and smashed sterling six goals yet his heroics couldn't save his team's blushes.
Governor Punjab Malik Rafiq Rajwana was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony and distributed prizes and shields among the winners. Bank of Punjab Retail Banking Ahmad Shah Durrani received souvenir.
Both the teams played well and it was Hamza who scored the opening goal of the final for Al-Khan/MMS through a forty-yard penalty hit but Bilal Haye came from behind to score a leveller for Kalabagh 4 to make it 1-1. After some time, Hamza struck once again for Al-Khan/MMS to finish the first chukker 2-1.
Hamza continued his good show in the second chukker as well and scored his and team's third goal to increase their lead to 3-1. It was then all about Raja Samiullah who hit two tremendous goals for Kalabagh 4 to finish the chukker 3-3 level.
Bilal Haye started the third chukker with his 30-yarder to increase his team's lead to 4-1 which proved too short as Hamza scored a leveller to make it 4-4. After that, Raja showed his class and hammered three back-to-back goals to help Kalabagh 4 take healthy 7-4 lead. Hamza struck once again to reduce the lead to 7-5 before the end of the third chukker.
The fourth and final chukker saw contributions from different players. It was Raja Samiuallh who hit his sixth goal to stretch the lead to 8-5. Bilal Haye then slammed two back-to-back goals to bring the score to 10-5. Irfan Sheikh and Hamza Mawaz contributed two goals to make it 10-7 but it was too little too late as when the final whistles was blown; the final score was 10-7 decaling Kalabgh 4 as winners.
In the subsidiary final, Allied Bank overwhelmed Army Whites 10-3. Saqib Khan Khakwani was top scorer with his fantastic five-goal haul while remaining five goals came from Chaudhry Hayat Mehmood (2), Emran Akhtar (2) and Usman Haye (1). For the losers Amry Whites, Saqib Rider, Qaiser Tirmizi and Major Adil Rao hit one goal each.
