LAHORE: Lahore police finalized a security plan for Friday regarding arrival of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter at the city airport.

DIG Operations Shehzad Akbar said that over 10,000 policemen would perform duty for maintaining law and order situation in the provincial capital.

He said that Anti-Riot Unit would remain high alert while officials of Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit would patrol the sensitive areas of the city.

He said the route divided into two parts, first is related to security at and around airport and the second from Cantt to Jati Umra.

The DIG said that peaceful workers and leaders would be provided complete protection.

He directed all SPs to take strict action against those who would attempt to take the law into their hands during the election campaign or public gatherings.

He said that violations of the election code of conduct would be sent behind the bars. The DIG said that over 150 activists of different political parties detained for maintaining law & order situation.
