A sessions court here on Friday sought a report from Faisal Town Station House Officer (SHO) by July 08 in response to a petition of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) through which it had sought the registration of a murder case against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, former law minister Rana Sanaullah Khan and others for the Model Town killings.
Director Administration Minhajul Quran Secretariat Jawad Hamid alleged in the petition that the respondents were directly involved in the killing of innocent people outside the Minhajul Quran secretariat in Model Town. The petitioner also questioned the registration of an FIR on the complaint of SHO concerned. He said an application for the registration of case was submitted to the Faisal Town SHO but no action was taken so far.
He alleged that the police were not independent and acting on the personal orders of rulers. He therefore prayed to the court to direct the Faisal Town police to book all the respondents under murder charges. Former law minister Rana Ijaz, former President Lahore Bar Association Mansoor Rehman Afridi and a number of other lawyers were present in the courtroom to represent the PAT.
