KARACHI: Managing Director of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) Salahuddin Ahmed has said that on the request of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), Water Board machinery will be provided for the needs of the Korangi Industrial Area.

He stated this during his visit to the KATI. Salahuddin Ahmed said that the Water Board complaints and tankers system will be digitised. In the coming 15 days, all tankers, complaint centers and XCN offices will be digitised.

He said that immediate steps will be taken to resolve the complaints of the KATI members and in this regard, modern technology will be resorted.

He further said that they are taking strict measures to eradicate corruption. KATI President Faraz-ur-Rehman said that there are many water-related problems in the Korangi Industrial Area.

He said that even after the recent rains in the country, industrialists were left with no other option but to buy their rightful water by paying millions of rupees.

He said that for immediate redressal of complaints in Korangi Industrial Area, vehicles should be allocated in KATI so that timely action can be taken to resolve the complaints of industrialists.

He said that with the change in the water board and the appointment of Salahuddin Ahmed, it is hoped that the performance will improve soon and the industrialists will get their rightful water through the line.

Zubair Chhaya, CEO of KITE Limited, said that the biggest problem in Korangi Industrial Area is water and sewage.

Chairperson of the standing committee Nighat Awan said that 80 percent of the main holes in the Korangi Industrial Area do not have covers.

Former president Masood Naqi said that all machinery and development works of the Water Board should be on record.

On this occasion, Water Board Chief Operating Officer Asadullah, Senior Vice President and Standing Committee Chairperson Nighat Awan, Vice President Muslim Mohammadi, former presidents Salim-uz-Zaman, Masood Naqi, Danish Khan, Farrukh Mazhar, Ehtishamuddin and other members and officials were also present.
