KARACHI: At start of the week, PKR recorded falls against USD in both interbank and open markets. It also went down against other majors in open market. This was in line with global currency markets where dollar hit a four month high against Euro as strong US labour market data increased expectations of Federal Reserve ending its pandemic-era stimulus.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee lost 30 paisas for both buying and selling against USD over last week’s rates closing at 163.70 and 163.80 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR lost 60 paisas for buying and 40 paisas for selling over last week’s rates closing at 163.80 and 164.10 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR lost 50 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 191.50 and 193 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR lost 15 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 44.40 and 44.60 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR lost 15 paisas for both buying and selling as well closing at 43.40 and 43.60 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee depreciated its worth versus major currencies including the greenback and the British pound in the open currency market on Monday.

According to the local currency dealers, the short supply phenomenon of the greenback prevailed throughout the trading session which helped its appreciation for buying and selling at Rs 163.70 and Rs 164.80 against the previous closing rates of Rs 163.30 and Rs 164.70, respectively.

Similarly, the rupee also followed suit in relation to the pound sterling that was bought and sold at Rs 225.80 and Rs 227.40 against Friday’s closing trend of Rs 225.50 and Rs 227.00, respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar gained 40 paisas against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Monday.

The dollar opened at Rs 164.80(buying) and Rs 164.90(selling) against last rate ofRs164.40 (buying) and Rs 164.50 (selling).

It closed at Rs 164.80(buying) and Rs 164.90(selling). The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold traded at Rs. 110,400 (selling) and Rs 110,000 (selling).
