KARACHI: On Wednesday, PKR continued its slide against USD in both interbank and open markets. It however went up against Euro in open market while going down against AED and SR. In global currency markets at the time of writing of this report, USD remained steady as investor still awaited minutes from Fed meeting last June.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee lost 45 paisas for both buying and selling against USD over yesterday’s rates closing at 158.80 and 158.90 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR lost 20 paisas for buying and 40 paisas for selling over yesterday’s rates closing at 159 and 159.50 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR gained one rupee for both buying and selling closing at 185.50 and 187 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR lost 5 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 42.95 and 43.15 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR lost 25 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 41.95 and 42.15 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee continued its downward slide for the third consecutive day against the American dollar in the local currency market on Wednesday.

The trading activity of the US dollar commenced on a positive note and kept on rising following persistent buyers’ interest in the market. Consequently, the dollar ended further higher for buying and selling at Rs 159.00 and Rs 160.20 against the overnight closing rate of Rs 158.50 and Rs 159.80 respectively, local currency dealers said.

Moreover, the national currency witnessed volatile trend as it moved both ways in relation to the pound sterling. At the close, the British currency was bought and sold at Rs 218.10 and Rs 219.80 against Tuesday’s closing trend of Rs 218.00 and Rs 220.00 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar gained 60 paisas against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Wednesday.

The dollar opened at Rs159.80(buying) and Rs 159.90(selling) against last rate of Rs159.20(buying) and Rs 159.30(selling).

It closed at Rs159.80(buying) and Rs 159.90(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold remained Rs106,000 (selling) and Rs106.100 (selling).
