FAISALABAD: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Farrukh Habib has said that next month's budget for the new financial year will be business and people friendly and the next two years would be years of complete relief in which the people would be directly benefited.

He was addressing media persons during his visit to Presbyterian Church of Pakistan, Nawabwala Chowk Samanabad Bank Moor, Faisalabad.

He said that as a result of government measures, the economy has started to grow. Therefore, under the successful youth programme launched for the youth, after June 15, unsecured loans of Rs0.5 million to Rs20 million will be provided. At the same time, the dream of owning a house for low-income people will come true as the government is building houses for the low-income people and loans are being given in easy instalments to build a house. The loan will be repaid in the same way but the house will be your own and 10 to 20 years from now the price of the same house will be in crores.

Every family in Punjab will also get Insaaf Health Card till December 31, which will provide treatment facility up to Rs1 million annually. And those suffering from deadly diseases will be able to get treatment from the hospital of their choice and the doctor of their choice and no one will die due to lack of treatment.

Farrukh Habib said that the government is giving 50,000 scholarships under the Ehsaas programme so that the gifted students who could not pursue higher studies due to non-availability of high fees will now be able to realise their dreams.

The Minister of State said that we were facing many challenges which are being overcome gradually but the issue of inflation is very important which affects everyone but now there will be no negligence on our part in controlling inflation.

Farrukh Habib said that as a result of continuous struggle of the government and the initiatives of the last 3 years, the economic indicators have improved a lot and not only the economy is growing rapidly, In fact, the wheel of industry is running at full capacity. Now we will need a large number of skilled manpower, so young people should pay special attention to learning new skills. He said that the government has launched a successful youth programme for the youth who have ideas but no capital.

He said that edible oil is not produced in Pakistan so we have to import it and since the import is in dollars, due to the high rate of dollar, its prices also go up but now we are the country of edible oil. Steps are being taken to increase its production. He said that vegetables, sugarcane and other commodities are grown in Pakistan and therefore facilities are being provided to the farmers to increase their production.

"The prime minister is saddened by the burden of inflation falling on the people, but 70 percent of pulses come from abroad to meet the local demand. However, we have taken action against hoarders so that they do not make illicit profits," he said. He said that steps are being taken to control the price of sugar and this time the farmers are happy with the increase in their income as the rate of sugarcane is getting better.

He said that Pakistan's growth is up to 4 percent which will provide new employment opportunities to the people and will bring successful people forward. He said that whenever Prime Minister goes abroad, unlike the former rulers, he does not spend money on luxuries. This is the reason why overseas Pakistanis are also sending remittances generously to Pakistan, which has also increased our foreign exchange reserves.

Farrukh Habib said that the government was ensuring the provision of rights to minorities on priority basis and the coming forward of educated people from the Christian community was the beginning of that development. While the white colour in the green crescent flag also represents minorities, the Prime Minister and I want the Christian community to be given equal rights, he said. Therefore, all our efforts should be for the strengthening and development of Pakistan.

Earlier on arrival at the church, the moderator and chairman of the Presbyterian Church of Pakistan Rev Dr Altaf Khan received the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting while Rev Afzal Umar Hayat, Minority Leader Habooq Gul, Ghulam Akbar Jafari, Ilyas Ashraf and other leaders were also present on the occasion. The event was attended by a large number of members of the PTI Minority Wing Justice Group, including women, children, elders and youth from the Christian community. A prayer service was also held at the church on the occasion.

Farrukh Habib said since Pakistan has given us all respect and we have all kinds of freedom here according to our own religions, we have to work for the stability of Pakistan and its development and strength. This is because no religion allows oppression and barbarism against anyone and the way the Palestinians were massacred and their property was damaged is a highly reprehensible act. Similarly, India is also depriving Kashmiris of their rights in occupied Kashmir. For this, the world community has to play its role.-PR
