LAHORE: The Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) is importing 180,000 tonnes of wheat from the Russian Federation.

The Russian wheat with the following specifications, 12.5 percent protein (minimum), wet gluten 24 percent (minimum), falling number 280 (minimum) and moisture 13.5 percent (maximum), will be imported, said a PASSCO’s spokesperson here on Wednesday.

He maintained that in terms of quality the imported wheat is not inferior to the indigenous wheat; in fact it is a shade better in certain respects. “These specifications have been negotiated and agreed upon by both the countries and the imported wheat will land in Pakistan after inspected by the international inspecting agencies,” he added.
