ISLAMABAD: The federal government is likely to increase the prices of petroleum products by up to Rs9.50 per litre for the month of August ahead of Eidul Azha in line with the global oil prices.
Sources in the oil industry said that the government would likely raise the rates of all petroleum products based on the existing rates of general sale tax (GST) and the petroleum levy (PL).
On existing taxes, the price of petrol has been calculated to increase by Rs7 per litre.
The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) is likely to increase by Rs9.50 per litre.
The price of kerosene oil (KO) and light speed diesel (LDO) has been calculated to increase by Rs6 each.
On the basis of existing calculation of taxes, the price of petrol is suppose to increase by Rs7 per litre from Rs100.10 per litre to Rs107.11 per litre.
The price of HSD by Rs9.50 per litre from Rs101.46 to Rs110.96 per litre, KO by Rs6 per litre from Rs59.06 per litre to Rs65.32 per litre, and LDO by Rs6.00 per litre from Rs55.98 to Rs62.21 per litre.
In July, the government has levied maximum Rs30 per litre of PL after standard imposition of 17 percent GST.
The final decision to increase the prices of petroleum products will be taken by the Ministry of Finance.
