FO summons Indian envoy, lodges strong protest over ceasefire violations along LoC

  • At least 1,487 ceasefire violations were committed by India in which 13 civilians lost their lives while 106 were injured

(Karachi) A senior Indian diplomat has been summoned by Foreign Office to register protest over ceasefire violations by India along the Line of Control.

In a statement on Friday, FO stated that Indian troops resorted to indiscriminate and unprovoked firing in Karela Sector in which a 28-year-old woman Madeeha Hafeez, resident of Batla Mathrani village, suffered critical injuries.

The Foreign Office mentioned that India has so far India committed 1,487 ceasefire violations in which 13 civilians lost their lives while 106 were injured.

Condemning the deplorable targeting of innocent civilians by the Indian occupation forces, the Foreign Office stated that ceasefire violations are against all established humanitarian norms and professional military conduct.

The FO said Indian forces have continuously been targeting civilian populated areas with artillery fire, heavy-caliber mortars and automatic weapons along the LoC and Working Boundary.

The FO statement further said that these violations by India are a threat to ‘regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation'. “The deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws," the statement said.

Pakistan urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire and instructed them to respect the ceasefire in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary.
