Boxer Waseem slams Pakistanis for supporting Amir Khan

The WBC Silver Flyweight Champion Muhammad Waseem slammed his fellow country men for supporting boxer Amir Khan over him.

“Amir comes from UK and represents England. He also represents England in professional boxing as well,” said Wasim, while talking to the media on Tuesday. “Amir gets more support in Pakistan, meanwhile, I don’t get the support here,” Waseem complained.

Months ago, Waseem's flourishing career took a turn in the wrong direction, after his promoter Andy Kim informed him that he could no longer support the boxer financially, which cost Waseem a shot at the title.

“My Korean promoter has informed me that he will not be supporting me anymore, but I am getting a contract for three fights, which will not include the title bout,” he revealed.

Waseem, who turned pro in 2015, won the WBC silver title in July last year with a win over Philippines’ Jether Oliva before successfully defended it against Filipino Geimel Magramo in November, last year.
