New Zealand have defeated Pakistan by 15 runs in the fifth and final One Day International (ODI) on Friday, failing to avoid getting whitewashed.

Chasing respectable 272 runs, Pakistan were bowled out on 256, thanks to superb bowling by Matt Henry. Pakistan did manage to put up a decent fight against the Black Caps, but could not win the match.

Despite losing half of the team on 57 runs, Pakistan managed to show a great fight back and guide the total to 256 in 49 overs. Both Haris Sohail and Shadab Khan scored half centuries for the men in Green. They made 63 and 54 respectively.

Meanwhile, Faheem Ashraf (23), Mohammad Nawaz (23) and Aamer Yamin (32*) all chipped in but in the end failed to cross the winning line.

Henry was the star performer for New Zealand with the bowl as he picked four wickets, while Mitchell Santner bagged three. With this victory, New Zealand completed 5-0 victory over Pakistan.

New Zealand had won the toss and elected to bat first. Thanks to brilliant century of Martin Guptill, the host posted 271 on loss of seven wickets. Ross Taylor continued his good form with the bat as he scored 59 runs.

Rumman Raees bowled beautifully for the Sarfraz XI as he picked three wickets while Faheem Ashraf grabbed two.

Now both the teams will square off in three T20 Internationals starting from January 22.
