Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has stressed the need of strengthening the Parliament and democratic institutions. He said that it was duty of each Parliamentarians to work for the supremacy of Parliament. The Prime Minister was talking to Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Leader of Opposition in the Senate, who called on him at PM House here on Friday.
The Prime Minister said that the government was paying special attention to the development of all regions, particularly Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). He said that he had inaugurated the construction work on the new Khushal Garh Bridge which is a mega project and would play a catalytic role in the development of southern districts of the KP and FATA.
He said that development schemes in all parts of the country have been undertaken to ameliorate the public problems. He urged the public representatives to monitor the development schemes for their timely completion. Haideri discussed development and security issues of Balochistan and KP with the Prime Minister. He requested the Prime Minister to direct the concerned quarters to expedite work on the repair of Karachi-Quetta highway.
