Punjab Chief Minister (CM), Shahbaz Sharif visited Allama Iqbal International Airport and various parts of Lahore Ring Road, on Saturday. He directed the airport management, National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak) and Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) to chalk out a plan within 48 hours with mutual consultation regarding carrying out horticulture work on the airport and provision of more facilities to the passengers.
Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz said Lahore Airport is the gateway to the provincial capital and all possible steps are being taken to enhance its beauty. He said quality infrastructure is vital for the development of the country and Punjab government attaches high priority to its development. He added that culture of horticulture, landscaping and tree plantation has been promoted in all the development projects. He directed that the vacant land adjacent to Lahore Airport be developed into children parks.
The CM observed that Lahore Ring Road project has boosted economic activities and provided better communication facilities and environment to the local and foreign tourists. He praised PHA DG, Abdul Jabbar Shaheen for carrying out exquisite horticulture work on Ring Road and said that the quality of work is no less than that of developed countries.
He further said the Ring Road project is causing positive impact on the development of the country and it is a fine example of construction and horticulture work. He assured that Punjab government will provide all possible help in horticulture work and provision of better facilities and environment to Lahore airport passengers.
Later, without any security protocol, the CM visited different parts of Ring Road and inspected the horticulture work. Traffic flow on the road remained normal during the visit. Chief minister was given a detailed briefing about the work at these moments.
