Veteran Malik achieves another milestone

Pakistan veteran middle-order batsman Shoaib Malik was instrumental last night after he scored a blistering knock of 81 of 61 deliveries, leading his side to their first win of the ODI series.

In doing so the former skipper went on to break the 100 sixes barrier in ODI cricket, as he becomes only the fifth Pakistani to achieve this milestone.

The 34-year-old achieved this milestone during first ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka which Sarfraz XI won by 83 runs at Dubai International Stadium.

He has now hit 101 sixes in his illustrious ODI career. He has so far played 253 matches in which Malik scored 6846 runs at an impressive average of 35.47.

Shahid Afridi leading the chart with 349 sixes, followed by the great Inzamam-ul-Haq’s 143, Abdul Razzaq at third with 124 and Wasim Akram stand fourth in the list with over 121 maximums.

It is pertinent to mention here that, Malik made fiery 81 with help of two gigantic sixes and five boundaries.  Due to his brilliant all-round performance, he was awarded Man of the match in Pakistan dominating game.
