The opposition leader, Sindh Assembly, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has urged the social workers, intelligentsia, writers, educationists and technocrats to work on a common social, economic and political agenda of Sindh development.
Further, he added that the upcoming general elections are very crucial, as it will be an opportunity of electing representatives to fight against anti-Sindhi elements.
He was speaking at an Iftar gathering hosted by the secretary, Sindh Democratic Forum (SDF), Zulfiqar Halepoto. A large number of political leaders, technocrats, educationists, journalists and social activists attended the Iftar.
Khuhro reiterated that Pakistan People's Party would never enter into a deal with the generals violating the sacred constitution of the country. He said that the present rulers and their allies had failed to provide good governance, basic human rights to the Sindhis.
Moreover, they have failed to initiate even a single mega project in Sindh, said Khuhro adding that the party had a list of sacrifices in it's credit to uphold democracy not to forget the nine year exile status of Benazir Bhutto.
The PPP leader also said that before passing the 17th amendment, the joint opposition had agreed to ouster Musharraf from power.
However, the MMA backed Musharraf and gave him legitimacy to rule and ruin the nation for further 5 years and now they are critical at PPP. The MMA, voted in the name of Holy book, deceived people by strengthening Musharraf through 17th amendment, he said.
The opposition member also criticised Sharif brothers saying that the so-called champions of democracy signed an agreement and backed out of the scene left people in dark for seven years. He regretted the revelation that Sharif's signed contract with military regime to stay out of the country for five years, not 10 years.
The Chairman, Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party, Dr Qadir Magsi, said that Sindh is under severe socio-economic and political pressures, needs social awareness to fight against the challenges.
