ISLAMABAD: The much talked about Panama case is about to reach its logical conclusion and the Supreme Court (SC) is likely to announce its decision on it anytime next week.
The five-member larger bench of the Supreme Court concluded hearing the Panama Papers case on February 23, and the final judgment was reserved. Headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, the larger bench comprised Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijazul Ahsan.
According to latest media reports, the much-awaited judgment in the Panama Papers case likely to be announced on next Monday.
The Panama case filed by various petitioners, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) emir Sirajul Haq and Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, essentially seek disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over the investments made in offshore companies by members of his family.
However, both parties Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders have announced on various occasions that they will accept the SC’s decision in every condition.
