imageLONDON: Britain's jobless rate has held steady at an 11-year low of 4.8 percent, official data showed Wednesday.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said the September-November figure was unchanged from the reading for the quarter to the end of October.

The outcome tallied with market expectations for no change.

The nation's jobless total stood at 1.6 million people over the same period, down 52,000 on the previous three months. That was the lowest level since early 2006.

However, the numbers in work fell by 9,000 to 31.8 million people, which the lowest since last autumn.
