The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended on April 13 for the lowest income group up to Rs 3000 has registered nominal increase over the previous week.
The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 140.33 as against the previous week''s 139.95, showing 0.27 percent increase, according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS).
The weekly SPI has been computed with revised base 2000-2001=100 covering 17 urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.
During the week under review average prices of 7 items registered decrease, while those of 20 items increased with the remaining 26 items'' prices unchanged.
The items which recorded decrease in their average prices during the week under review included LPG (11 kg Cylinder), egg (farm), wheat, garlic, beef, veg ghee (loose) and rice basmati broken.
The items which registered increase in their prices included tomatoes, gram pulse washed, tea (packet), mash pulse washed, lawn, bananas, potatoes, chicken farm, moong pulse washed, onions, voil printed, gur, masoor pulse washed, tea (prepared), salt (powdered), shirting, mutton, milk powdered (Nido), curd and sugar.
The items with no change in their average prices during week under review included wheat flour average quality, rice Irri-6, bread plain medium size, milk fresh, veg ghee (tin), mustard oil, cooking oil (tin), red chillies (powdered), cooked beef (plate), cooked dal (plate), cigarettes K-2, coarse latha, sandal gents (Bata), sandal ladies (Bata), chappal spng. (Bata), kerosene, firewood, elect. bulb (60-Wats), match box, washing soap (nylon), bath soap (Lifebuoy), gas charges up to 3.3719 MMBTU, elec. charges 1-100, petrol, diesel and telephone charges.
