Sindh Employees' Social Security Institution (Sessi) has collected a sum of Rs 71.079 million as Social Security Contribution from 17,661 registered establishments employing 324,968 workers during last month.
This was disclosed in a meeting held under the Chairmanship of Sessi Commissioner R. B. Phulpoto. Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner said Minister Labour/Sessi Governing Body Chairman Muhammad Adil Siddiqui had been emphasising to facilitate secured workers and their dependants in much better manner under Social Security Scheme in the Sindh.
He also emphasised on punctuality, discipline and cleanliness in all the Sessi offices. The Commissioner was farther informed that Sessi had disbursed a total sum of Rs 2.315 million as Cash Benefits to secured workers and their dependants during November last.
This disbursement includes Rs 0.552 million paid as Sickness Benefits followed by Rs 1.118 million as Disablement Pension/Gratuity, Rs 0.398 million as Injury Benefits, Rs 0.162 million as Survivors' Pension, Rs 33,000 as Maternity Benefits and Rs 32,000 as Death Grant and Iddat Benefit. A further amount of Rs 20,000 was paid workers as ex-gratia.
Regarding medical services, the Commissioner was informed that during the last month, attendance of out door patients at Sessi's medical outlets stood at 0.1.23 million. As many as 7,331 cases were referred to specialists for consultation. During the mouth under review 224 major operations were performed in Social Security Hospitals.-PR
