The Central Depository Company has announced the launch of a re-engineered version of its existing Central Depository System (CDS), termed eCDS from Monday (August 1). The new system is designed to offer the benefits of improved maintainability, better application response time and enhanced data security.
"As the process of instituting eCDS and ensuring uninterrupted transition from the old to the new system is a complex and time-consuming task, the CDS would not be available to the clients on Saturday (July 30) and CDC offices would also remain closed on that day", informed a CDC representative.
CDC took up the venture of re-engineering the Central Depository System (CDS) to enhance its efficiency, provide further comfort to its clients and improve the working of the market place.
CDS re-engineering is by far the most significant application development project taken up by the Company as it took almost two years of tireless cross-functional effort to revamp the current system and incorporate improvements in line with users'''' specific requirements.
The project is extensive and multifaceted and involves complete re-designing of the application on multiple tiers, including front-end application, programme design and database management system.
Describing the system, the representative said that eCDS is a more user-friendly application offering benefits of easy installation, improved application response time and enhanced data security. The system has many new data sorting options and is tailored to users'''' requirements, and the interfaces have also been improved in terms of graphics resolution and screen views.
Moreover, the system is capable of handling many new functions as well, which will greatly benefit the market place. These facilities will be introduced shortly.
