imageISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said that election campaign in PS 127 Karachi XXXIX would come to an end 48 hours before the polling day.

After the midnight of September 6 and 7 all public meetings and political campaign, including on electronic and print media, must come to a halt, the ECP said.

The candidates violating deadline will have to rigorous imprisonment for a term, may be extended six month or with fine up to Rs100,000 or both, it added.

The commission urged the people, candidates and political parties to adhere to law and make possible the holding of elections in a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. The polling would be held on September 8, 2016.
