Colgate-Palmolive Pakistan Ltd organised 'My bright smile art contest' at Alliance Francaise Gallery on Tuesday. The chief guests and judges included Ms Durriya Kazi, Head of the Department of Visual Studies at Karachi University, and Ms Riffat Alvi, Art Director of famous V.M. Art Gallery. Durriya said that children belonging to small towns showed interest in the contest and have produced excellent creative works.
She said that in this manner, the country can harness talent in the form of good artists. Riffat said that the young artists showed remarkable sense of design, colour and creative excellence in the work.
"The country can see the emergence of progressive young artists with bright future and meaningful contribution in art and culture".
That was the fifth year of the contest. In 2005 contest 14,400 entries were received which is the highest number since the inception of the contest, organiser said.
"The 12 selected drawings of Pakistanis winners will be entered in the global art contest, which would be held in New York. These global winners drawings would be printed in "bright smiles, bright futures" global calendar of 2006.
Colgate would award 250 dollars to each of the 12 global winners and their schools will receive 500 dollars. The judges distributed prizes to the winner children and also inaugurated the exhibition, which is opened for publicly from June 1 and 2 from 10.00 am. to 7.00 pm.
