The lineup of vessels to load sugar in Brazilian ports rose to 47 on May 25 from 34 the previous week, shipping agent Williams said. In a weekly report, Williams said 27 vessels were lined up in the southern port of Santos, up from 14 last week. In the north-eastern ports of Recife and Maceio, there were two and 10 vessels, respectively, compared with three and 11 last week. Cane harvesting in the center-south, accounting for 85 percent of national output, is in full swing.
Santos accounted for 71 percent of sugar tonnage being loaded in Brazilian ports, while Maceio took 15 percent and Recife 2 percent.
