Indo-American strategic partnership is not against the fundamental interests of Pakistan, however, indigenously tailored economic and political policies are must to survive economically in new emerging world order, said President Pakistan Awami Party General Mirza Aslam Baig. He was delivering a lecture on Indo-American Strategic Partnership-Implications on Pakistan in the context of emerging world order. The Chenab Forum had organised this lecture here on Friday night.
He explained in detail the fast changing world scenario from bi to uni-polar world and pointed out the emergence of six new power centres across the world.
He said that it would become impossible for the United States to enjoy the status of only super power due to the host of political and economic implications. He said that new power centres would help in strengthening democracy at the world level in addition to discouraging the hegemonic designs of any country.
About regional issues, Mirza Aslam Baig said that India has emerged as a big economy in this region. "It is not only enjoying the blessings of the United States but is also poised to establish viable economic relations with China in addition to other regional countries."
He said this regional relationship would be an effective deterrent for India to take any expedition against Pakistan. About Kashmir, he said, "Pakistan has shown maximum flexibility but India is still adamant as its leadership is repeatedly declaring Kashmir as its integral part."
