imageAmir Khan had formerly met Army Chief General Raheel Sharif in December 2014 to articulate team spirit with the victims of the Army Public School Peshawar massacre. He recently has met with the army chief at the General Head Quarters (GHQ), according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

A professional boxer and IBF light-welterweight champion has presented his own belt to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif as a special award of admiration in gratitude of his efforts for peace and security in Pakistan.

According to local media reports, the belt has been customized to pay homage to Khan’s heritage and heroes, featuring photographs of boxing legend Mohammed Ali and flanked by flags of the United Kingdom and Pakistan on either side.

“He presented the belt as a special award of honour in recognition of Sharif's efforts for peace and security in Pakistan," the ISPR said in a statement. Khan thanked Director General ISPR Lt. Gen Asim Bajwa and World Boxing Council (WBC) President Mauricio Sulaiman for the opportunity to present the belt to Gen Raheel.

Khan tweeted; “Honouring General Raheel with the @wbcboxing belt. Big thanks to Asim BajwaISPR & @wbcmoro #PeaceHonour”.

Amir Khan presented the belt on behalf of WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman. He also valued the Army Chief’s great effort against terrorism. He visited the Combined Military Hospital and inquired after the health of the injured students.

The champion boxer also gives training to kids at the Amir Khan Boxing Hall Pakistan and is set to open a boxing academy in Islamabad soon.
