Technology is everywhere and is impacting everything around us, the way we work, eat, socialize, all has changed dramatically. Even the clothes we wear are going to change, thanks to these forces of tech.
Meet Aerochromics, created by artist and designer Nikolas Bentel, are a line of shirts that can change their design and pattern, similar to a chameleon, as per Gizmag. These pattern changing shirts react to different kinds of pollution and radiation in the environment.
How does it work? The shirt which detects particle pollution, have two small sensors, situated each on back and front. When particle pollution is detected, the shirt activates heat pads, which change the white dots to black, reported The Verge.
Coming to the shirt which detects carbon monoxide, a reaction gets started when it comes in contact with carbon monoxide, the chemicals inside the shirt’s dye turn its black stripes white.
Lastly, the radiation detecting shirt, unfortunately the shirt in development stages, informed Bentel. But it will work on the back of a "chemical process indicator dye that changes from white to black depending upon exposure to gamma or electron beam radiation."
Giving the reasoning behind the latest creation Bentel said, “Knowing if an urban area is safe should be public knowledge". He added, "The shirt completely changing colors allows people around the user to also be aware of their surroundings."
The shirts however, will not come cheap as one radiation shirt will cost around $650. Whereas, the other two shirts share a price tag of $500.
