ISLAMABAD: `World Youth Skills Day' was marked on July 15 across the country to highlight the issues of illiteracy and unemployment being faced by the youth.
Different public and private organizations arranged seminars, conferences and discussion programmes to mark the day.
Every year, July 15 is celebrated as World Youth Skills day to highlight the fundamental rights of the youth.
According to the UN estimates in 2013, more than 74.5 million unemployed youth were present in the world and growing with the passage of time.
The International Labour Organisation says that youngsters are three times more likely to be unemployed compare to adults.
The main theme behind celebrating this day is to equip the youth with technical and vocational skills to make them capable of finding good jobs and reduce poverty in the world.
The issue of youth unemployment is a major concern for both industrialized and developing countries.
Skills development is a primary means of enabling young people to make a smooth transition to work.
In December 2014, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring 15th July as World Youth Skills Day.
The goal is to achieve better socio-economic conditions for today's youth as a means of addressing the challenges of unemployment and under employment.
