imageFormer Pakistan captains Mohammad Hafeez and Shahid Afridi have pulled out of the national team’s fitness camp due to injury, which is being held at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore from Sunday to Thursday.

Meanwhile, PCB chairman Shahryar Khan said the decision of awarding central contact to Shahid Afridi would be made after observing his performance.

Afridi took to his official account Twitter to reveal that he is missing the fitness test due to a knee problem while Hafeez said that he is currently undergoing rehabilitation to recover from a knee injury.

Afridi added that he is aiming to regain fitness so that he can play in the upcoming NatWest Twenty20 Blast for Hampshire.

Hafeez confirmed, “I have been undergoing a rehabilitation program at the national academy for the injury since the last six weeks but it is too early to say how much time it will take for me to recovery completely.”

“I hope to recover in the next two to three weeks, I will be travelling to Kakul for the training camp where my rehabilitation work would continue, I will try my best to attain full fitness before the England tour”, Hafeez told to local media.

PCB Chairman Shahryar Khan said despite the fact that Afridi didn’t take part in the fitness test arranged by PCB due to some injury, “our main focus will be on his performance”. As per reports, the current central contract awarded to players will end on June 30, 2016. Afridi is currently in the A category of players.

Earlier, newly appointed head coach Inzamam ul Haq confirmed that Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal were dropped from the training camp on disciplinary grounds while Afridi was given a chance to regain his form.
