KARACHI: Two ships 'Al-Bahia' and 'MSC Los Angeles' carrying containers were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal 1 & 2 respectively on Monday.
Meanwhile three more ships "Maersk Chicago' Mare Tirrenum' and "Bahia'' with containers, furnace oil and diesel oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was observed at the port at twenty seven percent on Tuesday where a total of four ships namely, C.V MSC Los Angeles, C.V Al-Bahia, M.V Amalthia and M.Karachi were occupied PQA berths to load/offload containers, soya bean seeds and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 84,330 tonnes comprising 41,808 tonnes imports and 42,522 tonnes exports, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,392 containers (TEUs) (854 TEUs imports & 2,238 TEUs exports was handled at the port.
Two ships, container Vessel 'Al-Bahia' and Oil Tanker 'Karachi' sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while another container vessel 'MSC Los Angeles' is expected to sail on same day.
Four ships C.V Maersk Chicago, C.V CMA CGM Thames, M.T Wel Beck and M.T Omera Queen carrying containers, 12,000 tonnes palm oil and 63,636 tonnes furnace oil are expected to take berths at QICT, LCT and FOTCO respectively on Tuesday, while two more container ships 'Sealand Champion' and "CMA CGM Attila' are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Wednesday.
