imageISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court Monday fixed for hearing the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) plea against grant of Electricity Distribution License to Bahria Town, on May 23.

Justice Shoukat Aziz Siddiqui on Monday heard the application in his chamber moved by Bahria Town against the objections raised by registrar office.

Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan and Barrister Ali Zafar, counsels for the Town argued before Justice Siddiqui against the objections and requested to shift the case to another bench.

After hearing the arguments, justice Siddiqui turned down the application of Bahria Town for shifting the case and directed the office to fix the case for normal hearing on May 23.

In its petition, the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) maintained that Bahria Town could not sell electricity in its domain and the issuance of the licence to the housing company by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) was illegal.

Nepra had granted approval to Bahria Town to sell electricity to the consumers in its township. Furthermore, the court was also requested to restore the licence of IESCO to the level of 2010.
