imagePakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has considered the team’s unsuccessful exit from the recently concluded World T20 in India as a `collective failure`, saying it will be unfair to blame an individual for the team’s dismal performance and he congratulated new Twenty20 skipper Sarfraz Ahmed and extended his full support.

According to media report, “Pointing fingers at an individual is not fair. All of us failed at the World T20,” said the veteran batsman. “I failed as well,” he added.

However, Hafeez praised the Pakistan Cricket board’s (PCB) decision to replace Shahid Afridi with wicketkeeper Sarfraz who has been with the national side since 2007.

“The decision [to appoint Sarfraz] is positive and there is continuity about it,” said Hafeez. “We will work together and take this team to a position where the fans want to see it,” he added.

Besides Afridi, head coach Waqar Younis also resigned from his post while the Pakistan selection committee was also dissolved. “Any steps taken with the intention of improving things should be backed,” said Hafeez.

Sarfraz's T20I captaincy debut will have to wait till September 7, when Pakistan will take on England at Old Trafford for a one-off match.
